The Jane Austen Quilt

Jane Austen Quilts Inspired by Her Novels
by Karen Gloeggler
A quilt made by Jane Austen, her sister Cassandra and their mother is displayed at Chawton Cottage in Chawton, England. JASNA-Idaho member Cheryl Neruda is making a quilt modeled on Austen's quilt, and Cheryl has graciously donated her quilt to JASNA-Idaho to be raffled at our December 6, 2014 tea.

The pattern for the quilt is from Jane Austen: Quilts Inspired by Her Novels, a book of patterns designed by quilter and JASNA member Karen Gloeggler.

The quilt measures 95"x95".  It is made from all cotton fabrics and cotton batting. The fabrics, many of which come from the Moda Fabrics Sentimental Journey line, are soft colors.  The quilting will be done by Barbara Silvester of Portland, Oregon.

Some of the fabrics, from the Moda Sentimental Journey line.
Cheryl Neruda has been quilting for 35 years. She has won awards for her creations and has taught sewing and quilting classes for many years. Cheryl serves on the board of Boise Basin Quilters Guild.

This quilt combines Cheryl's love of quilting and her love of Austen's works. We are thrilled to offer this beautiful quilt to Austen enthusiasts.  Raffle tickets are available now and will also be available at the tea.  Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20.
