James Mace: "Wellington and the Hundred Days"

On Tuesday, April 9, 2013, Idaho author James Mace presented “Wellington and the Hundred Days” at a meeting of the Idaho Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America.  Mr. Mace is the author of the Soldier of Rome:  The Artorian Chronicles series and of I Stood with Wellington and Forlorn Hope: The Storming of Badajoz.

Mr. Mace’s interesting and informative presentation introduced Arthur Wellesley, the First Duke of Wellington and explored Wellington’s life, military career, and legacy.  He gave a detailed account of the Battle of Waterloo and compared Wellington’s experience and expertise to the experience and expertise of Napoleon.  Mr. Mace displayed pictures from his travels and research and answered questions on a variety of topics related to Wellington.  Mr. Mace’s presentation helped the audience understand the British army during the Napoleonic Wars and appreciate a fascinating figure in British history.
